Virtually the entire population of the town is dependent on wells for drinking water; even the several public water supplies are sourced from wells. The proposed path ofthe pipeline could impact major aquifer zones as well as numerous wetlands. The Rindge Conservation Commission and the citizens ofthe town have been proactive in protecting these invaluable resources by means of ordinances. To now have these carefully protected resources impacted by the kinds of potentially damaging activities involved in pipeline construction seems unconscionable.”  Read more …

In his Letter to the Editor, Richard Wheatley, Director of Corporate Communications at Kinder Morgan, states “Doing business the right way, every day, is paramount at Kinder Morgan.” Some investigation shows a different picture of Kinder Morgan’s safety efforts and records. For instance, Hedgeye, a financial analysis firm released a report titled “ IsKinderMorganMaintainingitsStockPricesInsteadofitsAssets? The report concludes

• “We believe that Kinder Morgan’s high-level business strategy is to starve its pipelines and related infrastructure of routine maintenance …. AND…

• “A broader, and more important concern is the reliability and safety of Kinder Morgan’s pipeline’s.”  Read more …
